The link between our physical health and emotional health is both strong and direct. Symptoms of medical illness such as migraine headache, irritable bowel syndrome, insomnia and chronic pain can be exacerbated by how we feel emotionally, while they can also make everyday life more difficult to manage. In my practice, I use behavioral medicine techniques such as mindfulness, relaxation, hypnosis and cognitive-behavioral therapy to help alleviate physical and emotional symptoms by reducing stress and tension within the body.
